Excellent Buy on TWO 1 1/2" Leather Belts

I just bought two 1 1/2" leather belts from Sportsman's Guide...2 prong, holes all the way around. One brown, one black for a total price of about $18 for the pair + shipping. They arrived 2 weeks ago. Excellent quality for the price. Plenty hefty enough for holster carrying...IWB or OWB.

But they're not double layer, not gun belts, correct? IMHO, those who get by on things like these (or Dickies or Carhardt, etc, etc....) cheat themselves. For IWB , the pants will in fact do some of the work, and maybe for a lighter weapon these are fine. But for a 5 inch steel 1911 for example (what I carry), the only thing I've found adequate even for IWB is a good gunbelt, either double layer steerhide or nylon (Wilderness Instructor Belt) or better. All others will sag and stretch in short order and be a less than adequate foundation for your carry platform.

    JMHO.

    TBone,
You are 100% correct. I can get by with some belts with IWB carry and a Kimber Ultra Carry however when I carry my full size, steel, Kimber SIS OWB, I have to use a gunbelt or the weapon drives me nuts because I am constantly adjusting it. A good gunbelt is the key to comfortable concealed carry.

All above posts are true. This post was aimed at the budget squeezed. I can attest that these belts are real leather and (I hope) wont be subject to age induced sagging. Seem to be just fine with a 30 oz .40 cal in a IWB Bianchi holster.

Get a black one and a brown one and sew them together and then you can flip it over when you want to change colors!
