between the Pants and Belt Holsters

I feel that i would like a concealment holster that would be a combination of OWB and IWB such as a between the pants and belt holster for my S&W M&P9.

I am seeking info from UBG Holsters for his thoughts on this as I like the look of his holsters.

anyone else have thoughts on the concept, delfatti shows them but are backlogged ...

I also saw some nice between the belt designs from Caldwell Gunleather
I do not know if he is still doing them.

I'm not sure I agree with Delfatti's statement that it conceals nearly as well as an IWB holster. The only part being covered is where the belt slides through. The remainder of the holster is open and just as unconcealed as an OWB holster, IMHO. I do agree with their statement about how tightly the holster is retained against the body, but concealment is debatable.

I tend to agree with you. A good pancake will stay as close to the body. If it prints then the between the belt and pants will also. I do not think the Askins design will hold as close to the body.

Unless one wants an IWB holster to use both outside the pants and IWB I fail to see the usefulness of wearing a holster between the pants and the belt.

One problem with them is belt loop placement. If the loop is in the wrong place on your waist you can't place the holster where you want it. The only other alternative is to move the belt loop and thats just a pain.

No offense intended but, I never saw the sense of them.
I'd just go with a well designed top quality OWB combined with a good gun belt.
That will pull the firearm in very nice and close.
    Just my personal o-penguin.

I'm still trying to figure that one out. ISP, I understand...OSB, I understand, but between the belt and pants, I have no idea. Maybe one of the holster makers can tell us what benefit they provide.

The design does have limitations. I think they make the most sense for someone who would like to belt carry a small pistol like a Seecamp or Rohrbaugh. While you can utilize some inside the waistband designs for BPB use, the inside the waistband design with snapped straps aren't as streamlined and can interfere with acquiring a grip on the small pistol butt. The BPB minimizes bulk and still provides a reinforced collar.

Pistols in that size range can be very difficult to carry inside the waistband unless the size of the holster body is enlarged to help stablize them. They are very stable in a BPB holster and since the muzzle doesn't extend very far past the bottom of the belt, they are nearly as concealable as an inside the waistband type holster.

Well there you go! I just think it's hilarious to see a full-size service weapon carried that way.

Thanks Matt. That makes sense for guns that small. But as the original poster inquired about a gun the size of an M&P, I don't think the benefit is there for something that big.
