    A Birthday With H.B.E. (pics)

For my Birthday, my husband gave me the greatest gift!
I had the privilege of a personal consultation with Eric at H.B.E. Specialty Leatherworks to order my first holster. We went to his shop and I was able to see several of his holsters in progress and learn the pros and cons of the different styles as well as the where each would be carried. Eric was very helpful and spent almost 2 hours of his time with me on his day off. As I have never carried before, I donít wear a belt and I didnít know where it would be comfortable, I decided to start with a Pro 2, straight drop, in beautiful Black Cherry.

On my birthday my husband arrived with my new leather and it is everything I expected and more. Eric did not have a mold for the model gun I own so he used my Taurus P111 Pro to form the holster. It fits perfect; easy to draw yet still has firm retention. The craftsmanship is awesome. All the edges are smooth and rounded, the stitching is straight and tight and the color is perfect. Eric modified the shape a little for a custom fit for my shape. The stability of the design fits me perfectly and I am able to carry it anywhere from 5 oíclock to appendix.

Now Iím wearing it around the house and finding itís really very comfortable. The clip design allows the gun to be carried without a belt. The clip hooks my waistband and will not let go until I release it. Eric gave me several carry tips and Iím working on those also. Bend at the knees, hug low, and be aware when leaning over counters and water fountains.

Thanks to Eric for the great holster and the time he spent explaining everything to me was priceless. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet such a highly skilled craftsman. My holster is of the highest quality; I hope to own another soon.

If you ever have the opportunity to own an H.B.E. holster, you wont be disappointed. Enjoy the pics.

    Happy B-day,

I can't say that I have the honor of owning an HBE holster yet, but someday... I have holsters by Mark Garrity, Lou Alessi (rest in peace Uncle Luigi), Alex Nossar, Milt Sparks and a few others, but it seems like there is always someone else to buy nice leather from.

Enjoy your new holster. I realize it is probably a major alteration of your habits and such, but I would suggest at least trying a gunbelt in your wardrobe. It makes a huge difference and least for me in how well my sidearm carries and also in comfort.
