Had one, can't remember much about it other than it was BIG, and was absolutely high quality just like all the Alessi stuff. Had a Galco, it was also BIG. Using the 'big' standard as it relates to fitting in shorts, would probably work great in BDU's. Ended up with a Kramer that we got used (it was the smallest and had a piece of Kydex on the outside body so it looked like a wallet). Don't have the J-frame anymore, nor the Kramer but they come up used on fleaBay occassionally.

If the price is right and it looks pristine I would buy it just to hold on to and flip later on.![]()

I wouldn't pay a premium for it. The late Lou Alessi indeed made first-rate holsters, true works of art, but his pocket holsters are not significantly different from what is still available from other custom makers, or even high-end non-custom. Bidding on his stuff, in on-line auctions, is VERY high right now; it is a collector's market, and yes, folks do collect gunleather. I prefer Kramer pocket rigs over all others.
I am VERY glad I bought several Alessi ankle rigs during his lifetime. Nobody, IMHO, makes ankle rigs like Lou Alessi's. Some of his IWB rigs are also truly great, and like nothing else out there.
I would buy it. I am sure of you do not like it, you can sell it for what you paid plus more. It is getting out of control on Ebay for Alessi leather.
If you do not like it, contact me . I need one

If your looking for a classic, and well made piece of history grab the Alessi. As other posters have said, use some caution if bidding on classic leather gear on E-Bay.

GKG when you say the Alessi pocket holster is big how big is it as compared to say a Kramer holster? Would you say its to big for cargo shorts or baggier jean shorts with deeper cut loser fitting pockets?
Lou made several types of pocket holsters. I have several and use them primarily for jacket pocket carry, I can't stand a gun in my pants pocket. Also keep in mind a "J" frame isn't exactly thin like a P3AT or LCP which are ideal pocket guns.
