my duty bug goes in one. just make sure it isa small gun and you get a good holster. the cheap ones don't work well and will hurt before the day is out.

Ankle carry is good as a back up gun, would never put my primary gun there as it is too slow and hard to get to when you need it in a hurry.
I wear boots for safety. Ankle holster is totally out for that application. (Unless bellbottoms came back into style.)
My work, commercial HVAC, Refrigeration and Industrial Maintenance is too nasty of an occupation to wear a weapon that close to the ground and keep it reasonably clean.
Front pocket and rear pocket holsters and smaller guns are my only real opton but I feel safe in that regard.
Just my thoughs..

I carry my Glock 26 to temple on the high holy holidays in a ankle rig. Sitting all day long. I would have to keep my jacket buttoned the whole time with a shoulder rig. I have looked into the undershirt with the pocket under the arm.
I carry an M&Pc in an ankle rig. It isn't fast, but it is concealable. One place it does shine is when driving. If you drive a truck or SUV, it is faster to get to than anything on your hip.
Sure, for BUG; never for a primary. I'd be more likely to use a cross-draw holster than an ankle holster. I believe nearly all holster locations offer certain advantages, but for the most part I really don't like ankle carry unless it is for a BUG.

I got a cheap one off of e-bay, like $15 or $19. The key for me was the cant. If the gun is straight up and down, the barrell sits on my ankle bone. After 10 minutes of that or a walk of longer than 10 feet it is downright painful. With the cant it not only gets the barrell off of my ankle, but it puts the butt of the gun more in line with my leg so it doesn't stick out. GOOD concealment. Carry gun is a Bersa Thunder 380.
If you do get one I would recommend a small lightweight pistol such as a Keltec P3AT or a Ruger LCP. Even carrying a S&W J frame sized revolver is painful to the ankle. I would also get one that was padded to provide more comfort in that area. Quality and padding is the key to comfort here IMHO.
