I like the background, one artistic bit of a idea. A little more detail on the flames on the forground, the background it good, but the flames clash a bit IMO.
I know not what this "overkill" means.

Looks like you hit on something. The image is probably something that I wouldn't want, but I can think of a lot that I would. Actually, pretty amazing! I am very impressed.

If so, I am interested in one for my old man.

While I like the double stitching, and the shape looks nice, very good craftsmanship, the skull and flame isn't my cup of tea.

Thanks for the compliments guys. This was my first piece burned on leather. That is why I did the skulls, I go with what I know. As some of you know, I can do anything I can see. But my preference's are skulls and flames because that is what I am mostly known for.

Pyrography is like drawing on leather with no erasing. If you screw up, your done. The darker colors on the leather are a deeper and hotter burn. It is very difficult to control the fade with a higher temprature, It's like moving a hot branding iron around on skin. Once it is scared you get burned and working it over and over you get really burned. Really burnt can hurt the integrity of the leather.

It will last forever. Especially once I seal it.

I can, but dark colors will loose some of the details of the burn. The burned effect does not accept dyes ones it is burned.

Its really nice work although it could create a problem. I'd be afraid if I were involved in a shoot, a defense attorney or prosecutor could really run with this. Perception trumps facts every time.
