Greetings from the People's Republic of New York. Finally received my Kimber 45 Ultra Carry II after many months. I am in search of an IWB holster (maximum concealability) for daily carry. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I have a UC II as well. Go to the Kimber Website and you'll see that there is an assortment of holsters there. I'll probably pick one up from there as well. BTW, I just got my gun a few days ago and shot it today: shoots great for a 3 in. gun!
Thanks Guys. Hubs, which ball ammo did you use? KImber recommends 230 gr FMJ. They say the best is Eagle. I gotta say the takedown was a *****. Disassembly not too bad but reassembly, WOW! The Slide Stop was by far the most challenging. But after several iterations, not bad at all.
Once the slide stop has a reasonable amount of lube and a bit of wear it will be much easier to takedown and re-insert.
Re: Ammunition. Right now, I use PMC Bronze FMJ at the range -- I carry with Federal Hydrashok and will soon be switching to Federal HST whenever my order arrives and I've tested them properly.
I carry mine with a Blade-Tech Kydex material with double belt loops. It locks solid in the holster and you can adjust the tension on how solid you want the pistol to fit into the holster. Its durable material but I do love leather best (I didn't get leather because I don't have the patience for the wait times for leather). If you like leather then some of the other recommendations might be better for you.
I saw what the owner's manual recommended, but checked with my gun shop about that. Their take is to use roundball(any kind) primarily for break-in. I prefer Independence ammo because it is a steel jacket and shoots cleanly with little powder residue. Other brands are very dirty. I'll use others only if they are brass jackets. Do not like aluminum jackets(Wolf). At this point with the supply problem of getting ammo, I'll shoot ALMOST anything...no aluminum though.
For self-defense, I like Golden Sabre or Hornady TAP.
IMHO the best by far is Nossar's Valovak.
What range do you go to? I live in Rockland County and my shooting partner lives in White Plains. If you haven't, you should check out the range in Greenwich CT.
I just signed up with a brand new shooting called Pioneer Shooting Center in Mt. Vernon, NY. 914-664-1414. The range will officially open in late summer. A little pricy but I like the fact that it is open 7 days from 8am to 11pm. In the meantime I ma going to Blue Mountain Reservation in Buchanan.
what about crossbreed? I just got a springfield micro and plan on getting a supertuck for it. I have one for my XD and it's super comfy and cost about half as much as some of the other holsters mentioned plus it has an adjustable cant
NYCmedic, where is the range in Greenwich? are you talking about forest and field in norwalk? I work in greenwich and would love to know
I have a Milt Sparks VM II and a Crossbreed Supertuck for my Ultra CDP II -- both work great. I generally use the VM II and have the Crossbreed as a backup -- but depends on what I'm wearing

I carry my Kimber Pro Carry II in a Hoffner's ITP J-hook kydex holster. I prefer to buy from local manufacturers as much as possible. It was a 3-4 week lead time, but worth the wait, and the price wasn't much different from the national holster makers.
As far as ammo, the only ammo that I've had problems with is the Blazer brass, as I have had problems finding the white box with the ammo shortage. Hope this helps,
SuperTuck by CrossBreed or Bluegrass Hybrid Ghost. Both tuckable and comfortable . Especially the SuperTuck - AND quick shipping / rock solid guarantee! Congrats on the new gun!
