I have decided I want to order a beltman to hold my Defender. My Desantis 1 & 1/4 just doesnt hold it firm enough.
Two Questions:
The 1 & 1/4 size fits more belt loops I own so I'm leaning toward that size.
Do many people have problems fitting a 1 &1/2 Belt?
Help me decide?
Should I go with a HorseHide in that size? or should I go with The stiffening option?
I have the 1.5 and it fits all but a pair or two of pants I own. I usually wear jeans or pleated khakis. The 1.5 fits all of my dress slacks but you should probably measure first. You will be amazed at how well the bull hide supports without the stiffener and the horse is even more so. If you do get the stiffener option just give it time to get used to. You could carry a Barrett in a holster without droop.
What ever you decide, you can't go wrong with the beltman.

It fits all my Dockers, jeans, and suit pants.
IMHO the perfect carry belt!!
1 1/2" Horsehide. You don't need a stiffner.
OK Horse Hide it is! Taper or not to taper?
I've got a Beltman double-bullhide 1.5", without stiffener, with taper. Though, for me at least, with my CZ P-01 or anything around 25-30oz and heavier I would probably opt for the stiffener next time. Double bullhide / without is fine, though I think the stiffener could help a person be certain it would be firm enough for many years of service.
I wonder how much the taper takes away from vertical stiffness if any?Quote:
