I have a 4" 1911 with a rail. It is a Springfield Champion Operator. Can somebody tell me if I can use any holster that is made for a 4" 1911 or do I need to get a holster that is specifically made to accomodate the rail?

You should buy a holster made to accommodate the rail, otherwise you're going to have to stretch the holster to fit the gun if you go leather. If you go Kydex you're hosed. If the holster has a tension screw, it might be possible to have it fit without stretching the leather, but why bother when you can just order a holster made for your gun.
Here is an option. My buddy has a Springfield Champion Operator and ordered this holster and loves it. Galco Royal Guard. You have to order it for a Kimber 4" with rail.
Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters
No, a cheap soft holster yes.
OK. Thanks guys. It seems like my holster options get pretty limited since I have to buy one specifically made around the rail.

That's what happens when you buy a railed 1911.![]()
Yep I would suggest a railed version of a holster... I can help you with that![]()
