    Safepacker concealment holster?

    Hi,

Has anyone used one of these as an alternative to the traditional fanny pack? I need something along the fanny pack lines for when I go to the gym during the evenings. Other choice is the Blackhawk FP

    Thanks

I have one of these...though it's less in fashion now... if it ever was?

Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters

Gave it to the gym's manager at the counter so as to not leave it in a locker.

When I had a regular fanny pack years ago, I used to always leave it on except for when I did abs. I would then have it right next to me when doing crunches. Do you think the Safepacker is any more intrusive when lifting weights for example? I also do low impact cardio (elliptical). Thanks

I've had one of these for two years. Here's my opinion:

    Pros:
    1. Well-constructed
    2. Unobtrusive (you'd never know it was a holster)
    3. Comfortable, because the gun is not pressed against your body
    4. Versatile, because each size will fit all guns within a certain size range (my Glock 36 and SW J frame both fit in the same one)
    5. Versatile in the sense that it can be worn on a belt, over the shoulder, carried in the hand, etc.
    6. Flap design holds gun very securely.

    Cons:
    1. Inherently, the draw from what it essentially a flap holster is not fast.
    2. Design has strange flaws. These are hard to describe if you don't own one, but I'll give one example: the flap has a pocket which is intended to carry a clip or anything else. But it takes two hands to open that pocket, because the velcro that holds it closed extends all the way to the outside edge of the pocket, leaving no "lip" of material to grab when you want to open it. So you literally have to take two hands and slowly pry the velcro apart with two thumbs. Needless to say, I don't use that pocket.
    3. Safety - this thing neither looks or feels like a holster, so you really need to remember to keep it in sight, on your person, under control.

One thing I find this holster really excels for is backpacking. It looks just like a sort of accessory pocket, and it fits a packbelt well, plus the gun is very well protected. The construction is good, and mine looks new after two years of weekly use. Hope that helps.

AJGRANDA....Don't know as I never wore it in the gym...only to the gym. You also said years ago... Fannypacks look out of place now and most saavy folks know it's also a holster.

Thanks, I think I'm going to hold off on one of these for now.

I just want to add that I use a safepacker on almost a daily basis and love it. Easy to use and no one says anything about it.
