Will the general public think I'm carrying?

So I bought myself a 5.11 Push Pack, in tan, to use as a regular purse and to carry my gun.

It says 5.11 on the front, which I plan on covering up, btw.

So....I like it!.... but do you folks think that it is too obviously a 'carry' bag? Will regular people out in public recognize it as such?

I still want 'concealed' to be 'concealed' and not raise any suspicions or concerns....got a fairly anti-gun population around here.

Me, before I got my permit, I would never have recognized the brand 5.11 or registered this bag as anything but a practical, non-girly purse.

Here's a link, if you dont know what it looks like. I got it in tan.

It does look a little more "military" or "tactical" than a normal purse. I wouldn't give it more than a second look though. Most people should have no idea you are carrying.

Good point sir. One thing about the Seattle area, even in the city, almost 'everyone' participates in outdoors activities and casual outdoors gear is common. I bought this hoping it would fit into that style.

So I'm hoping people will see it as more 'outdoors' than 'military.'

Because it's nylon, I'd guess most would think it some sort of book bag rather than a purse. Nor would they think you were carrying.

I just showed my girlfriend and that is exactly what she described it as. More of a light hiking/outdoor bag. You should be perfectly fine.

Looks good to me but take the acid test and find out for yourself.

    LOL

That will indeed occur. I go to scout out ammo pretty frequently.

Cover up the 5.11 with an LL Bean tag and you're covered even for the folks that are familiar with it.

    Ha, yeah!

I was going to get some 'cute' stickers at the Ben Franklin's (to girly it up and distract from military look), but doing that would be perfect! I even have an old LL Bean bookbag that I might be albe to cannabalize.

Are you LE Frank? That thought had also occurred to me, having cops scrutinize me...but I never do anything outside the law, so....if caught speeding, he'd know already I had a permit.

I have a Maxpedition Versipack Jumbo in foliage green. To my knowledge noone has ever put 2+2 together. Even though I don't usually carry a gun in it. I use the bag a lot though, and occaisionally throw one of my pistols in it.

Usually it just gets the "Man Purse" jokes.

i'd sooner use one of those than the dreaded fanny pack. i normally walk around with a shoulder/messenger bag, though i've rarely used it to carry a gun. that's what holsters are for. whenever i see anyone with a fanny pack or a safari/photographer's vest, i automatically think they have agun. those items scream "I'M CONCEALING A WEAPON" to me. i don't know if i'd assume a person was carrying if i saw that bag, so i doubt any sheep would even consider the possibility. i might even get one for myself, now.

I agree, not enough people will ever think of that as a gun bag(other than people that look for anything as a weapons carrier for a living). Also I looked at the tag on the sight and it looks like it's sewn on, look between the tag and fabric for threads. If so, you can cut it off. being a new bag it won't leave a clue there was ever a tag on it. I cut tags off everything I buy, guns or not, if they show or not as well.
