I have never carried a full-size pistol before so I am trying to find a comfortable holster to wear all day with nice dress shirt and slacks at work. What options have some of you tried and how is it working for you? I am thinking of getting a Comp-Tac Minotaur M-Tac tuckable holster, but I am not sure if it will totally hide the fact I am concealing a gun. Some input please.
But when my jaws get tired Crossbreed Super Tuck when IWB, Fobus paddle holster when I don't have to worry about being too discreet and can dress a little sloppy.
I use a Cross Bread Super Tuk. I got it first to carry a full-size Taurus 1911. I had it under a dress shirt and tie. Wore it to church. Never got made. (I have a couple of police officers in my church, neither had any idea). I now carry a Rock Island Arms compact tactical. That holster is THE MOST comfortable holster that I have EVER used. And I have not been made.
He advertises on here, worth checking out
I just ordered one and cant wait for it's arrival. I will carry either a 3 or 4" Kimber with it but then again I know I'll be able to carry a 5" with it as well if I wish.
I currently carry with a Bianchi 100 Professional Holster which I had a little trouble with the safety turning it's self off but moving it farther back on my side seems to have cleared that up. Overall not a bad holster especially for 45.00 and it is comfortable but I'm still looking forward to the Super Tuck.
I haven't taken pictures with the MTAC and Kimber 5" yet but, here are some old ones with a XD45C. I find that the butt of the 1911 pulls in tighter than the XD does.
Check out PURE KUSTOM. Rocky is a great guy to deal with. Supreme comfort while concealing my 1911. Good looking also, wish I could OC! Santa01 :santaclaus:
You have specifically requested dress shirt and slacks, so unless you also wear a coat, your only option is a tuckable holster.
Both my Black Ops Pro and MTAC work well with slacks and a golf shirt. My dress shirts are a little longer and I have found it is a problem tucking them in behind the clips or loops and not having the dress shirt blouse to much. I am thinking about having some of my shirts altered to have that tucked area cut away some and hemmed. It would likely only cost a few dollars at an alteration shop.
A lot of pictures shown on this thread will not work without a coat or untucked shirt. There has to be room between the clips or loops attached to the belt and the holster and the amount af shirt that can be tucked is determined by how far down the holster those clips or loops are connected.
The Black Ops Pro has the convenience of also being able to wear it OWB when you do wear a coat. For most, OWB is much more comfortable than IWB.
1911's work well with an MTAC as long as it isn't a GSR. The SIGs are not standard 1911 slides. My 3" Kimber works very well IWB in the MTAC. 1911's are thin and lenght doesn't matter much, just adds a little weight.
I don't use a holster for a 1911. I just stick it in my pants, cocked and locked, over my right hip. The grip keeps it from slipping down, and I've never had it slip upward. I've carried that way for years and found it secure. While hiking or running, it stays put.
I use a Crossbreed Supertuck for my 4" Kimber. Printing is a bigger concern in dress clothes, so I tend to wear a sweater vest or sport jacket if I think I need it. I'm upgrading my holster and carry piece to a Milt Sparks VM2 and a Wilson Combat Professional, I hate to think of that beautiful finish getting worn away by the Kydex on the Supertuck.
Dan Wesson CBOB in a CUDA by Simply Rugged with matching mag carrier. This CUDA can be worn either IWB or OWB. In the pic it is set up for IWB carry. Recommend this combo highly!
