First Aid Tips

Not sure where this would fit, so Mods, please adjust if needed.

I was doing some research for items needed for a first aid kit and came across this interesting tidbit...I am not kidding, this was actually posted...

I think that may be the worst idea ever. Lets say you've recently fired your gun.... all that fun carbon build-up in your mouth... Mmmmm yummy.

I'm gonna go see if I can convince a concert conducter to replace his brass line with an assorment of calibers.....

It takes all kinds..........Then again you can put the barrell back in real quick like and drop that love-struck bull elkyou just bugled in for some camp meat.That ought to help out your situation some .

Jokes aside - in fact any tube placed to lips and lips pursed properly will yield a useful note. Whether tho this small size and length would be louder than a good whistle or holler - not so sure.

Anyone done this trick with a piece of hosepipe - makes a great sound.

Wonder if there is room in an orchestra for the guy playing the 40 cal Barstow :wink:

But it doesn't work as well for you "small bore" kinda guys!

I'm sorry, I've just been hearing too much liberal drivel in the media lately. We've had several shootings and home invasions of poor defenseless sheeple here this weekend and the gun control hyeenas are all yapping up a storm. Maybe I should pay a pennance of some kind like force myself to go to a gun range and shoot 200 rounds of .45.

One of the formerly accepted wilderness distress signals was three, evenly spaced, shots. It might even be heard farther away then a "pistol barrel bugle"!

On the other hand we could have various sections in the orchestra all the way from the light and delicate "Keltec .32" section to the low and profound "10 gauge goose gun" bass section in the back. The post concert parties might just bring new meaning to classical music being a blast!

All that asdie... I won't even comment on the whole barrel whistle thing...

ALL of those things are actually really great ideas... Except for the barrel whistle and the Nose Bleed...

For the Epistaxis (Nose Bleed), you should tilt your head forward and pinch thy nose... The reason: If you put your head back you could allow blood to roll back down your throat and possibly cause an AIRWAY COMPROMISE. Better to keep it flowing away from the throat then back down...

I've been doing Seach and Resuce since I was 14, was an ARMY MEDIC for two tours in the serivce, soon to be three, and have worked FT and PT in Emergency Medical Services for over 10 years now...

So like I said... They seem strange... but when you got nothing else... :hand10:

As far as I know the three spaced shots is not a "former thing to do".

The only problem I have ever heard about NOT working was the guy that was found after week, said he tried it until he ran out of arrows.:0

I'm going to disassemble one of the guns I'm not carrying, of a sufficiently large caliber so as to not sound like a chipmunk fart (noted above), and carry it with me so I don't have to disassemble my carry gun. On the other hand why not just carry an air horn and be done with it?

After reading the entire article, including the posted quote, I'm going to have to give my professional medical opinion that the author is an idiot. The whole article is filled with bad advice.
