    Texas Training

Has anyone gone to any formal handgun training in Texas?

    What did you learn?

    What did it cost?

    Was it worth the money?

Would you recommend the one you went to?

I am looking for training on proper stance, the proper way to hold the gun, sight picture with my gun.

I am a really bad shot with an M16 I am right handed and left eyed but I am better with my Kimber but still not good, and I want to improve but I am not even sure I am holding the weapon correctly.

So I am looking for a good beginnerís class in Texas.

If it is not in the US Constitution then the Federal Government should not be doing it.

Sorry, cant help you out there, all my courses have been LE sponsored, and mostly low-cost.

Surely down around Austin there are some good instructors hanging around the ranges.

I took 3 classes at Thunder Ranch when it was in TX. Now Clint and Heidi have set up shop in OR. The last course I took was one of the last urban rifle classes in TX and that is where I met DeWayne Irwin. He is the owner of Cheaper than Dirt an ammo, army surplus, guns, etc. store and internet business in Ft. Worth. He has opened a TR style shooting school south of FTW. I haven't been there, but their web site is

You might check them out if you are willing to drive a few hours up from Austin.

    KR training

I would recommend Karl Rehn at http://www.krtraining.com/index.html

They have a great facility and very good instructors. They have a lot of different classes based on students ability. They are also very reasonably priced.

    Best of luck in training,
    Ferrell
