Can You Recommend Defensive Handgun Training Close to Central West Virginia?

As a new CCW I'm convinced that hands-on defensive handgun training is a must if I expect to be effective should a situation develop in the future. My wife wants to learn as well, so I'm looking for a trainer that has a good rep, but won't require me to spend a day driving to reach the training site. he Gunsite and Frontsight training sounds great, but is too far away. A couple hundred miles is not out of the question. Can anyone recommend a trainer near West Virginia from personal experience?

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Do you have Gander Mountain sporting goods stores in your area? They are setting up some pretty good courses in their larger stores. Not up to professional standards but better than just shooting at targets and tin cans for sure.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.

Lots of the instructors will come to you, I know Suarez International will. Either private lessons (could be pricey) or if you have the place to do a class you can host and your training would be free.

Tactical Response & Rangemaster are in TN.

Probably a bit far for you, but I thought highly enough of Tactical Response to drive from CT to take a class...

Check out TDI (Tactical Defense Institute) in southern Ohio; should be within your mileage radius.

    Antares Defense

I just took the basic defensive pistol class from Mike Blum at Antares Defense near Alderson WV. I had a great time and as far as I know it was great training (my first class). I would recommend it highly. Very inexpensive IMO. Worth every penny. We did scenario training all afternoon. Shot from vehicle, cleared house, etc. Here is a link to his website. Antares Defense Home Page Funny, my Dad used to own the property his range is on.
