Doomsday Preppers, Tim Ralston shoots his thumb!
Recently I've been watching Doomsday Preppers on Nat Geo. I think its a pretty entertaining show. On today's episode, Tim Ralston (creator of the well liked crovel) is showing himself and his family firing a guns in the Arizona desert. He seems like a very smart guy with things in order, but then.... he shoots himself in the thumb.
When asked by the camera man what happened he says "The damn thing... just misfired on it". Then he passes out. He gets evacuated by helicopter and apparently lost a knuckle. He then says again "It was one of those malfunctions... my thumb went in front of the barrel and it went off"
Man, I really hate how those dang handguns just "go off" when a thumb gets in front of it.
Once again this is just a reminder of safety and how important it is to always follow the basic rules. Who knows what would have happened had he not been surrounded by a filming crew.
I also think its funny that he doesn't accept responsibility for the accident but implies that the gun malfunctioned....
So what do you think? Did it malfunction?

Man, I really gotta proof read my posts before I click submit. Obviously I meant Malfunctioned, instead of Manfunctioned.

Manfunction! That sounds like the title of a women's self help book!

How do you lose a knuckle? Wouldn't you also lose what's attached south of that knuckle as well?
And you know I could have me a million more friends, and all I'd have to lose is my point of view. -- John Prine (A Good Time)

looks like he blew the top of his thumb off,and the only malfunction was in his gun handling, but it's so much better for his ego that he blame an inanimate object

It wasn't the gun's fault, his thumb attacked him, it was self defense!!

I think it was an operator "manfuction
",the gun was just doing what it's designed to do,you know like blowing your thumb off if you put it in front of the muzzle and have your "Booger hook on the Bang switch!"

manfunction: An unexpected event involving a piece of equipment being operated by a man when the man refuses to admit causing the event. "After I drank eight beers, the car manfunctioned and hit the light pole.
