Something that needs to be thought about
Here is something from Grossman
Unless you have been properly trained, it is quite easy for you to experience a profound breakdown of speaking ability, and in Condition Black you may literally be scared speechless when operating at extreme levels of stress. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman
There are those who train that say you should yell commands before you fire. Now is this that Grossman is speaking of happen and you have trained to speak first. Now you can not speak will you fire?
I don't know the answer, but I train to react not to talk.
It's gotta be who you are, not a hobby. reinman45

I'm 5' 4" tall...my "command voice" isn't going to stop any threat. My 9mm will stop a threat a little more effectively.

I kinda think as long as I can shoot the BG will get the idea? I gues it depends on what is going down.

I'm not an LEO, have never been an LEO, and don't adopt my training strategies from TV shows, so speaking prior to firing has never been a habit I need to un-learn.

It's easy to over-analyze this stuff.
Having done a little maritime law enforcement, I found that it's like any sport that you play. When you're in "the moment", yes you fall back to your level of training, but on top of that - you also have good days and bad days. Besides, real life situations are often too fluid to predetermine whether you'll speak, run or shoot.
Train, stay in shape, and stay alert. Then pray that the day it hits the fan is on a "good day".
