I have sometimes heard people say ( in regard to criminal attackers ) that they could never harm or kill another human being no matter the circumstances . Every time I hear something like that I wonder if they would regret having taken that position as the last gasp is driven from their body by that human being they couldn't bear to harm. I suspect they would wish for a do-over! If not, then I guess they perished as sadly ignorant as they lived!
