Help with Oregon out of state CHL application letter.

So as you probably already know, to obtain an Oregon CHL as someone who is not an Oregon resident, you must write a letter declaring why you wish or "need" to have one.

I currently live in Oregon and go to school here, and don't plan on leaving anytime soon, but am a Washington resident. I am applying through the Multnomah County Sheriff's office as I live in Multnomah County. Has anyone in a similar situation as me written a letter that worked well for them? I feel I could produce a pretty good one but decided it would be best to ask here if anyone wants to share what worked for them.

    Thanks.

I used to live in Vancouver, WA but owned a rental in Oregon. I wrote that I needed to do business often there and was granted a permit. I would think that if you write that you are living there for school, they would grant you one.

In my investigation, Grant Co was very recepticle. To get an out of state, you must first have a CWP in your own state WA. When I checked they only processed out of state on Wed. 9-12 noon. That was awhile ago so call for present procedure.

    Might consider a different county?

Since there is discretion involved, you might want to consider applying in a county other than Multnomah (like maybe Clackamas). Since Multnomah County is fairly anti-gun, you might have a better reception in a more CHL-friendly county. Yes, I know the state is a must issue state for its own residents. Just something to consider. Clackamas is very CHL-friendly.
