    Half Hip up on youtube

    WW2 half Hip - YouTube

Did some filming the Friday before the course last weekend. Worked through some skills we cover in the pistol courses,

More of these to follow about every two weeks or so. Next one up, 3/4 hip. If you subscribe to the channel, they'll notify you when I throw em up in the future.

This one is shot from 6 and 9 feet from the hip on the draw on steel. The steel was designed specifically for shooting close so the rounds are sent downward and obliquely to the left or right. I regularly shoot my steel close with no problems based on how the steel is set up.

Reminds me of being on the police range doing close up work.

Quick question, do you also teach backing up and going to full extension, or is it just point shooting?

    Hi Harry,

Next one to be released is 3/4 hip, then point shoulder, both from Fairbairn/Sykes and Applegate fame at further distances. I've got one to throw up eventually that's 1/2 hip [ like this one, but getting out of the line of fire ] with movement and some other moving and shooting vids. We filmed a lot of raw footage that day for 4 hours. I've got to digest it, combine the two camera vids together, then edit them. This one took me about 6 hours to get together, I'm a novice at vid editing/splicing presently. I got one of Quick Kill Pistol from 35 yrds that will eventually be put up as well.

You can see I fumbled the second draw some, the biggest reason for that is I drew slower in the vids than I normally do in practice.
Hope that answers your question sir.

I was watching a video on a close in drill, where the instructor gave the target a hard palm , drew from hip and fired just after the firearm cleared. Then stepped back at full extension. I figure these are the moves i should be practicing .

The clerk got lucky reaching for the gun like that, no control over the firearm at any time. Could have been a bad scene if the perp was fully committed. Instead, we see he was only trying to intimidate. Lets the guy walk away still armed? He got lucky on several fronts. I wouldn't suggest attempting what the clerk did to anyone.
