Great reply Glock 21, while I basically agree with a lot of what you are saying, I still want CCW holders to have at least a minimal amount of training.
If you choose to have any weapon in your home I have no objection at all to that in any degree at all, but if you are carrying in the street you have to have had some training. I don't care whether or not you know how to shoot or not. What I worry about is your lack of training and that poor inocent slob that is behind the BG when your lack of training causes you to start spraying and praying in the BG's direction. Training will give you pause to consider this as one of the 4 Basic rules. Ignorance of firearms and the damage they inflict is inexcusable if you carry.
I too frequently give people training "on my nickle" just so I can impart at least some idea of what they are getting themselves into. IMO when you choose to carry you must not only know when to shoot and how but when not to shoot. That comes with familiarity and that comes with training.
