    Video recording yourself?

Does anyone else video record their shooting mechanics as a learning tool?

I've found personally for me, like my golf swing;when I shoot the camera never lies.

Video captures what are to me gross errors (and sometime small errors) in certain areas that I would never see w/o the watchful eye of a instructor or the video camera.

    1) For me, I clearly saw I was re-gripping with my left hand after every shot. Clearly, my G27 has some bite, but over time I am learning not to do this as often; it is making me more accurate with follow on shots.

    2) My video showed me I get a little lazy producing off balance shots and need to lean into the shot a little better.

    3) In rapid fire when I began with the G27 almost 2 yrs ago, I was doing a unnecessary full trigger reset. (This I corrected asap)

So at least for me, shooting good is not good enough in a SD practice session; so I like to video record often
to see errors or correct old habits that are trying to creep back in.

I do but not exactly the kind of shooting you are thinking about. I video my shooting on the ice! ( I play center ). Its a great idea. You can fix all kinds of things that you don't even know your doing. Fill us in on how much you improved!

What's a video recorder? Does it have a shoulder thingy that goes up?
Firing a suppressed is on my Bucket List.

YES! We will have to either ban it OR, a 7 day waiting period til you may record anything.

Speaking of video cameras, we need to issue these to LE...ever see these BG's hide when they see a video cam? wow!

I'd love a slow motion camera for that purpose (a high framerate camera; not just a camera that pauses at frames). That'd be a great way to identify issues in mechanics during the trigger pull, etc.

Nope, I just pay attention to what I'm doing, although I used to record my bat swing. I find paying attention to yourself lends to getting into a groove, and recognizing what's wrong from within.

Video recording is great for sorting out the things you're doing wrong, e.g., not shooting from reset as the OP alluded to. My shooting partner occasionally films me when we shoot steel, and I saw I was lowering the gun unnecessarily when moving from target to target. It's a great additional set of eyes on what you're doing.

In this video it was the GoPro Hero 3 at wide angle; hence the barrel distortion (no pun intended)
I also do 2 cam shoots with a far better HD Sony.
