I have recently put together a new class called Beyond Concealed Handgun Carry. There are many competent firearms trainers offering courses but few are qualified to offer the subject material in this course. The content of this course is designed to help you survive the events AFTER your use of deadly force. Little if any of this course material is presented in any NC Concealed Handgun Class. (Our CHC class is usually 8 to 10 hours). The BCHC Class is 5 hrs and is all classroom work. Also, the class will be restricted to holders of a valid Concealed Handgun Permit from any state or letter of character from their sheriff or chief of police. Active or retired LEO's may also take this class. The reason for this is that I will only present this material to responsible citizens. Much of the class involves interactions with the responding officers, investigating officers, and witnesses. While the SHORT answer to LEO at the scene is " I want a lawyer," there ARE MANY things you should and should not do before, during and after the use of deadly force. The manner in which these things are done are also very important too. You have to remember, most career law enforcement officers have NEVER arrested an innocent person at the scene of a deadly force shooting. Expect to be treated like a criminal.
