Question Andy Stanford OPS Training- anyone take?

    Hi folks,

Just got Andy Stanford's book Surgical Speed Shooting...

Was delighted to see that his school, Options For Personal Securtity (OPS) is located about an hour and a half away from me.

The best part is that the tuition fees are VERY reasonable...

Anyone have 1st hand experience with the school?
    Regards,

    Dean

I did a class with them a while back, and did a review of it here. I'll see if I can find it.

I was impressed with the class. However, for several months now there have been no classes listed on the OPS website, and I am not sure what their status is.

A couple of their instructors, including Jim Clark (who taught the class I took), have started their own center: http://www.highpointpst.com/

They are also using the same ranges OPS was using (Titusville and Ruskin).

I attended Andy's Surgical Speed Shooting course here in Colorado three years ago and thought it was definitely money well spent. It was the first dynamic training I had ever participated in and learned a great deal about firearm presentation and other useful skills.

The following Spring he was back and I took the Point Blank Pistol course that involved more Force-on-Force training...I posted a write-up HERE but the picture links aren't currently working.

Andy has a "unique" personality and is very good at explaining basic concepts...the drills he uses are designed to instill useable skills in a way that provide a good platform for later practice. His classes are a very good starting point in the world of dynamic firearms training...

I have Andy's book and I am signed up for his "Surgical Speed Shooting" class here in Colorado Sept 15th and 16. Looking forward to it. Just picked up my 1000 rounds of 9 mm, which are required for the class.

I have taken Andy's Surgical Speed Shooting as well as other classes he teaches. All are top notch and money well spent.

I took SSS several years ago...I consider it one of the two "core" training classes I've taken. That said, I had no idea Andy was still teaching -- his website, above, has been inactive for what seems like years. I'm almost certain he left FLA and is now based on the West Coast (CA I think).

If you can take the SSS class, jump on it at once.
