Steel Targets
I realize some folks are restricted to use a range for their shooting practice but for those who have the option of using the great outdoors, I have found a way to really increase my shooting enjoyment... Portable Steel Targets!
My first Portable Steel Target was this one: Steel Targets by Action Target: PT Practice Target - Portable Target Applications for Indoor and Outdoor Shooting Ranges Portable, safe and fun!
I am adding the Torso/Hostage Target next.
Here's Action Target's web site. Their targets are extremely well built and a good value.

I've posted this before but it's a ''spinner'' target I made (now somewhat less 'intact'
)
Mostly scrap steel welded together ... channel for arms, strengthening gusset pieces . 1/2" plate ''paddles'' - which I admit are best kept for handgun use ...... rifle stuff goes thru! The center is a piece of tube that goes over a pivot rod set into the ground spike.
Each shot impact moves it and presents a new surface more or less into view. Time I made another actually!

I have been shooting 80% steel lately. Qual on paper, maybe do a few grouping exercises, shoot the centerfire rifles...but everything else is steel. I'm very lucky to have access to a good range complex with a lot of steel in different sizes, that I can set up however I want... It REALLY makes shooting/training more enjoyable, and more realistic. Highly, highly recommended.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.
