Defensive Pistol Skills 101 -Rochester NY
Rochester Personal Defense is offering its popular Defensive Pistol Skills 101 class on May 4th From 8am to 5 pm at the Genesee Conservation League in Rochester, NY.
This class was designed to introduce the shooter to the skills, mindset, and training involved with the defensive aspect of pistol shooting. This is not a basic level class, but this class will give you the foundation to move forward and learn more advanced classes easily.
In this class, the participant will learn about (and discuss):
- The legal use of force, including the conditions and requirements to use deadly force in NY State.
- Restraint and de-escalation
- Verbal commands
- Concealing the handgun effectively
- Drawing and engaging a target quickly and reliably
- Faster trigger manipulation and cycling
- Malfunctions and stoppage clearing
- Tactical vs combat/slidelock reloads
- Drawing while moving/shooting
There is a prerequisite of NRA Basic Handgun or equivalent training, of which must be verified before attending.
Eye and ear protection
A working and reliable firearm that you can operate easily
300 rounds of ammunition
A quality 'strong side' concealed carry type holster (belt mounted or paddle)
A minimum of 3 magazines or speedloaders
A magazine pouch or holders
Notebook and pen/pencil
Water and quiet snacks - There will be lunch available for purchase at the club or close by, but you are welcome to bring yours
Appropriate clothing for the weather. (We will shoot indoors if it is cold or raining heavily, otherwise, we will be outside)
Pre-Registration is required to hold your space in the class. The previous classes have all filled up fast, so do not hesitate to attend.
