Magpul Dynamics Advanced Carbine - 4-5 July 2009 - Columbus, Ohio

Big Darby Creek Shooting Range will be hosting Magpul Dynamics Advanced Carbine from 4-5 July 2009. Cost is $400 plus a $25 range fee (covers both days), class size is limited. Range fee is payable in person at time of class - i.e. bring $25 with you. We look forward to seeing you there!

Please call Amanda at Magpul Dynamics (1.877.4MAGPUL or 303.828.3460 ext. 111) or Justin (ext. 118) to pay for your spot.

    LOCATION:

BDCSR is located at 875 Middle Pike, West Jefferson, Ohio; this is roughly 20 minutes W from the center of Columbus. It's an outdoor range, so dress appropriately and bring water. Range facilities include 2 portable restrooms, and bottled water is available for sale. If you're flying in from out of town, you can either call to preorder ammo (Chris Marshall, 614.668.5474) or pick some up around town. Heck, shoot me a PM, and you can have it shipped to my house if you need to. No penetrating ammo will be permitted on steel targets; it's fine on paper.

We have a small pro shop available, but don't expect to walk in and buy 400 Pmags without some advance notice.

    COURSE INFO:
    Magpul Dynamic Advanced Carbine Course

    $400 / 2 day course | ammo 1800rds carbine, 500rds handgun

    Course Description
This is a fast paced, hands-on, super dynamic live fire course with minimal time spent in the classroom. Starting with combat mindset, the class thoroughly covers:

    *Terminal ballistics
    *Rapid threat analysis and acquisition
    *Shooting on the move
    *Multiple target engagement
    *Strong and weak hand shooting
    *Malfunctions
    *Natural and improvised shooting positions
    *Barricade shooting
    *Shooting from vehicles (client dependant)
    *Concealed shooting
    *Low light tactics
*Individual and team confidence enhancement shooting drills
*Individual and team live fire stress courses

    Hardware
*A functional carbine or submachine gun chambered in 5.56x45, 5.45x39 or 7.62x39mm or standard pistol caliber weapon systems. It doesn't matter what high-speed Jedi master gadgets and gizmos you want to bring, a weapon system that works is more important! If available, a spare weapon system is also an excellent idea.

*A cleaning kit and tools that are compatible with the weapon system(s) in question is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of 5 working magazines. Sometimes magazines will make it in your dump bag and sometimes they won't. If they hit the ground they can become fouled, causing weapon malfunctions and time off the line.

    Kit
    *Note pad, and pen/pencil
*Clothing suited to strenuous type activity as well as being
    seasonally appropriate
    *Appropriate foot wear
*Rain gear / cold weather gear (seasonal)
*Ear pro, which will handle the noise of 5.56 going off next to you
    (Electronic preferred)
*Eye pro, which wraps around, and clear lenses for night shoots
    *Baseball style hat recommended
*Primary weapon sling, single point, or a good system that allows
flexibility for transitions and reaction side weapon manipulations
*A rig that can carry a minimum of four (4) primary magazines on your
    person
*Functioning secondary weapon system, and three working magazines
*A holster and magazine pouch that will retain your equipment when
    moving
*Primary weapon mounted light with spare bulbs and batteries
*Secondary weapon mounted or handheld light, with spare bulbs and
    batteries (optional)
*Tools that work on your weapon, i.e. wrenches, screw drivers, etc.
    (optional)
    *Weapons lube
*Optics will require adjustment tools and spare batteries
    *Water hydrating device
    *Knee and Elbow pads (optional)
    *Gloves (optional)
    *Insect Repellent (optional)
    *Bring an open mind.

Thanks, Tom...honestly, I'm really excited about this. I don't know whether to hope that it fills up really quickly, so there's no doubt that it'll happen, or to hope that it doesn't fill quickly, so more people get to hear about it. I suspect it'll fill pretty fast, though...I don't think they've had a less-than-full class yet.
