You might have a hard time finding Blackwater,But from what I've heard Blackwater has some of the best training available

Strange you should mention Storm Mountain...

Just the other day I was speaking with 2 gent's who had completed their complete handgun course a while back. They both had only good things to say about the place, and seeing as it's not to far from my Fiance's place (keyser, maybe 30 minutes away) I may have to pay a visit myself later this month if I US Immigration will let me back in the country.

Those nice USCBP folks get reluctant to allow visitors after they have been in the USA 7 times in 12 months..

    Oh well.... fingers crossed

What portion training are you going for?

We send guys from the teams there alot. The driving portion is great, just don't eat prior to it. Ranges are great and personnel are quality!

when you get to moyock you will see Hardee's on your right. puddin ridge road is the second signal light past hardees - you will make a right (the post office - really small post office - is on the corner if you come to sonic's you went too far - first time I drove there I went about 10 miles past puddin ridge road before I realized it) you will go about a mile and come to a sharp left turn continue then the road makes a right turn about 50 yards after the right turn is the entrance - can't miss it they usually have a armored personnel carrier parked at the gate.

Completed the Blackwater Basic Handgun back in early March. Here are the highlights as I recall them:

    - Nine students; two instructors. Students included private citizens with some former military, retired and active law enforcement. Instructors were both former SWAT team members; both had served in Iraq and Afghan. recently and more than once.

    - Some students brought their own weapons, some rented the facility weapons. Students used Glocks, Sigs, and 1911s. Ammo could be purchased there or brought.

    - Curriculum is reviewed and updated continuously based on lessons learned from law enforcement and from Iraq and Afghan. Focus while on the range was always first and foremost on safety. Fifteen hundred (1500) rounds were fired.

    - Day one: First half was in the classroom reviewing safety, range procedures, emphasized all training was to be conducted from a tactical perspective.....not a day at the range (hope that makes sense). Afternoon was on the range. Drills and dryfiring first under close supervision. The instructors worked with individuals on correcting stance, grip, unholstering. Also, reviewed and drilled range procedure drills before loading. Fired approximately 350-400 rounds from 3 yds out to 10 yds.

    - Days two and three: Both days started by dry firing exercises to review and reinforce what had been covered before. Troubleshooting and correction were covered. Increasingly complex firing drills using paper, stationary and moving or pop-up steel targets and/or a combination of the above. Shooting from various positions using cover of various forms including kneeling and prone. Shooting drills were moved out as far as 60 yards, but most firing was from within 10 yds (most defensive shooting is done within 21 ft). Timer was used during timed firing, unholstering drills. We shot against each other which served to enhance the training. Last day culminated in a shoot house with steel plates and pop-ups.

Final thoughts: I was extremely satisfied with the experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to someone else. The instructors and the facility were superb. I learned A LOT.
