Anywhere from as close as the range allows, to as far as the range allows. This applies to both pistols and rifles.

    Exclamation My 2 cents...

With my carry piece I practice draw from concealment, swiping off the safety as I bring it to bear and fire double taps at a target between 7 to 10 yards. ( I practice that ALOT )

If I'm breaking in a new pistol or revolver, or practicing for a competition, I'll usually run it out to 25 yards.

With my carbines and rifles...50, 75, 100 yards...as that is the limitation of my outdoor firing range.

    Pistols...3-100yards
    Little rifles...223,.308. 25-600 yards.
    Bigger rifles...300WM and .50 BMG 100-1000yards
