I respectfully disagree. I guarantee that this method of training will be VERY effective to the trainees.

I think this ended better then that instructor that shot a student in the face a couple weeks ago. At least it was the person that was dumb that got shot not an innocent bystander.

If it wasn't so tragic I'd be laughing my ... off at your response. Very effective...

Well, looking on the bright side I'm certain that his two "students" really learned that lesson.
You tend not to forget lessons that are reinforced with a loud bang and pulverized brain matter dripping off the the walls.

This is one of the reasons I always check my Glock's chamber several times and use my finger to verify my visual confirmation more than once after dropping the magazine and before field stripping it for cleaning, etc. (For any who are not familiar with Glock, one must pull the trigger to begin the field stripping process.) I then always aim it down and away from any possible path of harm. After exercising these precautions, I am relieved when it goes 'click' and I can begin working on it.

And if you should think I am just inexperienced, I have been owning and shooting firearms for more than 45 years with no accidents. I am just a little paranoid when it comes to firearm safety. For this reason I don't like to be distracted when cleaning or working on firearms. Distractions can get you or someone else injured or even killed.

I offer my heart-felt condolences for the family of this young man. I also hope someone has learned something from the experience and will therefore be more cautious themselves and maybe they will preach proper safe handling of firearms to others who will not have to go through such a terrbile thing.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes ... they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson

Perfect, if extreme, example of a negligent discharge. Hopefully this will be one more example (just how many more will people need?!?) that ALL firearms are to be treated as if they are loaded.

In a twisted sort of way, he proved his point.

I am having a hard time feeling sorry for this man, deep down inside I regret someone dying that didn't have to, but then I think who may have been saved later by his passing now?

As some others may have already said, he didn't follow the two basic rules of handgun safety.

#1 Always keep the handgun pointed in a safe direction.
#2 Always assume that any gun you handle is LOADED until you verify otherwise.

My heart goes out to his family but he didn't follow these two basic rules of gun safety. It does also make my think of what harm this caused some of the students who witnessed this terrible accident.

Phoenix man killed in gun-safety demo

Wow, if this is true, this is scary. Another mark against the rest that PAY attention to SAFETY and doing the right thing

A 26-year-old Phoenix man accidentally killed himself early Sunday while explaining gun safety to two Sierra Vista residents.
Samuel Benally Jr. was at an apartment on West Tacoma Street when he said guns should be kept unloaded because people could point them at their heads, said Sierra Vista police Sgt. Brett Mitchell.
Benally then demonstrated by putting his own 9mm Ruger, which he believed to be unloaded, to his head and firing it, Mitchell said.
Benally was flown to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Mitchell said.
An investigation is ongoing, but police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved, Mitchell said.
