I do, and probably lots of other CCforum denizens.

I have shot several IDPA matches so far, and really like them. I am trying IPSC now also, for those weekends with no convenient IDPA match. These are fun also, but I prefer IDPA style.

BTW, you missed a GREAT day for shooting. The temp was low-mid 70's when we started shooting at 9:00. It did not climb untill we were done with the Shotgun match at 2:30 pm.

And overall I sucked big time
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

I did the books today and discovered that fuel, toll roads, ammo and match fees are eating up $300 a month.
I'm cutting it back to only 1 match per week.

I sure wish some of these were local and I do like the part about them being semi realistic shooting scenarios.

IPDA rules more nearly simulate conditions of a self-defense shooting, such as requiring the shooter to use cover. The use of your daily concealed carry equipment is recommended.

IPSC has fewer equipment restrictions, most shooters use specialized "race guns" with sights and recoil compensation, and reload to barely meet the minimum "power factor" standard.

IPSC has been around longer and has more participants. The founders of IDPA, as I have been told, were IPSC shooters who thought IPSC practices and rules were deviating too far from self-defense concepts and formed IDPA to return to self-defense shooting basics.

I am fairly new to both disciplines, so if anyone reading this sees an error, please correct me.

Anubis got it as good as I know. I also know that there are some people, probably not the average shooter, that feel animosity from one league to the other. Anytime you break away and accuse a group of people like that it's bound to cause friction. IDPA, with the rules they impose, try to keep things more realistic where IPSC is more of a game. They are both games IMO, just that IDPA is less so and more helpful in real world situations. But if you like to shoot one or the other or both it's fine with me.
