I am now an IDPA junkie........
Attended my beginner class today.
The instructor was excellent.
I was in a classroom for over three hours before we hit the range. I shot a SSP, Glock 17.
Out of the 12 shooters, I had the fastest time and a perfect score....twice.
I am now hooked! I never did this well at anything before.
This hobby is now going to consume all of my free time.
Anyone else here shoot IDPA?????
IDPA as Street Confrontation Training? We've Been here before....
I was the first competitor in the FIRST ever IDPA sanctioned match to be held east of the Mississippi River in 1997. Think it was January. I ran the course with JHP 9mm in a Browning Hi-Power IIRC. I became a certifed Safety Officer shortly thereafter.

I fired my most recent qualifier last Saturday in the Florida keys. At least I'm consistent. Don't get wrapped up in the IDPA GAME. I'm consistent at marksman because I concentrate on tactics (zero procedurals) and accuracy. But then speed MUST suffer and I'm okay with that. Still I was moaning to our club President and he made the comment that in his opinion I wasn't the same shooter who ran that course all those years ago. He said I was so much better but I was also nine years older. Eyes have a tougher time picking up the front sight and so I try even harder to take my time and make the shot.....you have to vary your training.
What's between you and Smokin' Bald Eagle?
Bad Blood there?
