I am not much of a "knife guy". I carry one for everyday cutting tasks but have never really considered it a option for a weapon unless absolute last resort. Well, I recently purchased a leatherman charge which I LOVE and never leave home with out. Since it has a knife blade on it I was considering upgrading my EDC knife to something a bit more geared towards a defensive role. I'm carrying a kershaw skyline now. Any suggestions for a more defensive style knife with a blade length around 4 1/2 inches? I'd like to go as light as possible and stay under 100.00 as well.

I looked at the Flash, and this video review, and others, helped me showing the improvements involved with the Aegis over Flash.
(Can't go wrong either way with a SOG though)
I have the black one.

All those companies have knives that will suit your needs. There are many many more out there but these are really common one. Good luck, keep us posted.

I think you'd be way better off with a Military Model - Satin Blade - Plain, Combo or Serrated Edge, or Police 3 - Black G-10 Scales - Plain or Serrated Edge, but they're both over $100.00. Not too much over, though.
Spyderco Endura. For $100 you can get two. Clip can be located to suit your needs. Very light.
