    Which pepper spray to carry?

Is this the right section of the forum to post this? If not, please let me know where.

I need to buckle down and commit to carrying pepper spray...too often, with work, I cannot carry my firearm and really, I think that pepper spray would be more appropriate under more circumstances.

Can people please tell me what they think are the best brands and why? Thanks very much.

I carry Fox, but it is not small.

For my keychain, I carry spitfire. It is the size of a car remote. It also has never gone off in my pocket like others that I have carried.

I tried the Spitfire. It runs out quickly. It shoots a fine mist in a cone (ok). Even a very light breeze will blow it away from a target two feet away (bad). It can easily blow back on you (bad).

I tried the Mace 10% pepper GEL. It shoots a pencil-thin stream that is relatively unaffected by breezes (good) but is very hard hard to aim accurately (bad).

I'm still looking for a satisfactory solution.

The two main contenders are Fox Labs and Sabre

They both are used by LE and have excellent track records. Just make sure to check you state laws on max size you can carry and other restrictions.

For those that don't have training on use, go with the cone or fog models over the stream since under duress it is far more difficult to hit a moving target with a stream.

Hitler once said, “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

ASP makes a spray dispenser that looks like a kuboton and you carry your keys on it. I have been using there "Street Defender" model for over four years and it has never leaked and always test well. I have replaced the refill once. For larger containers I like the MK III model of Freeze + P by Aerko International. It is a combination of OC and CS and I have been sprayed twice with it in training and it is plenty hot. If you are determined you can fight through it but it does give you a non lethal force option.

I use Sabre. Not only is it compact, it can connect to or disconnect from a key. It has also a 20 1-sec. bursts capacity as well as firing button that also acts as a safety. It is in stream.

Freeze +P made by Aerko, Int. Was recommended by my Armed security instructor and is supposedly used by local LE.
