    Butterfly Knives, Anyone?

I was at Shooters in Jacksonville salivating over many subcompacts when a Benchmade Butterfly knife caught my eye.

It had a carbon fiber body. It was pricey, though. $200+.

Any use a butterfly knife for EDC?

The original one handed folder. I used to carry a BM 47 behind my mag pouches while working midnights. Check out the new collaboration between Charles Marlowe and Benchmade. I played with it at Blade and it would make a great EDC knife. Balisongs are awesome tools. My daughter EDC's a Morpho when out of school.- George

Used to have two beautiful balisongs back in the day. The one I EDC'd had rose wood scales and a spear point blade. I loved carrying that knife until the "kungfu movies" in the late 70's and early 80's made them really popular and all the idiots and kids started carrying cheap "knockoff" knives and then all these folks started getting themselves arrested for flinging them around at people. Then the Law decided to what they always do...if it's popular, make it illegal. No more balisongs.

Not legal to carry in my state but I have a few and do some flipping. Keep a box of band-aids handy. If you really want to beat your hand up get a Spyderco Spyderfly :).

I don't know why they cost so darn much!!!

Is a $300+++ knife really better than the $80 version of this?

You can find really inexpensive ones ($20.00) but if you do a lot of flipping they are not going to hold up.
