Keychain weapons other than spray..

This is a discussion on Keychain weapons other than spray.. within the Defensive Knives & Other Weapons forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I would suggest a keychain G17. The new ones even have the hole for it on the grip, IIRC....

That thing would just attract too much attention. A while ago someone asked me to review it and I declined.- George

Good responses! Paraflail and monkey fist are great ideas! Also great point about extra weight hanging off ignition.

While looking at the monkey fist this Turk's head caught my eye. I like the exposed metal aspect.

The Paraflail adds no weight to your keys. I also like that you just stick it inside you pants at the apex position and you have supper fast access. I sell about 25-30 of them a week in all different colors. The have worked there way into some pretty secure places.- George

I will weigh it tomorrow at the PO, but it is next to nothing. What makes it effective is yours keys on it adding another edge.

    Thanks!
I've looked into the comtech stinger too, it looks like it would be an effective weapon. I've seen some videos of several 2x4s being broken, and it seems to hold up just fine, so it should have pretty tough construction? I do wonder about the bulk, and look of it on my keyring?

I'm in the habit of wearing my keys clipped to my belt loop (use a regular ol' walmart carabiner, currently.) and wonder how that would appear? I don't have room in my pockets for my keys when at work, and when off work,I've never been able to comfortably carry them in my pocket, and I like the quicker access of having them on my waist.

I'm missing something with the Monkey Fist? How would this be an effective weapon? I tried to find some demo videos, but couldn't ? Anybody have any more info? From the pictures, it looks like it could be less 'conspicuous' or a less obvious weapon?

I'd like to make my keyring more "prepared". I just have keys, and keytags (like for the grocery store.) and carabiner . I like the idea of having a minilight on there, seems like alot of guys do that. I also like the idea of having a backup weapon. I too, like posted above, have concerns about the weight on my ignition.

A Monkey Fist is often used in the same manner as a sap or black jack.

Looking at the pictures,...I must be missing something here. I fail to see how a small rope knot would be an effective melee weapon?

The Monkey Fist has a 1" steel ball bearing inside the ball. Unlike some other key chain devices, It looks unobtrusive. It packs it punch by using the lanyard for leverage. Slap someone upside the head and they are going to feel it.

Using a stinger or cat paw depends on brute strength and a well placed blow. If used correctly it will draw blood so why not just use a knife and be done with it. Most women and many men just don't have any boxing or martial arts training or skill. They will however usually be able to swing a Monkey Fist and connect without much training or practice.

I have not found any videos that demonstrate the use of a Monkey Fist. I did find one on how you can make one.

Short snappy swings/strikes, driven mostly by wrist action. Think of a short fly swatter.
