Just ordered a Cold Steel Recon 1 and Gerber 700...
I have been going round-and-round for months trying to decide on what folder I should carry and what multi-tool I should carry. I finally decided to pick up a Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto with the serrated edge and a Gerber Legend 700 mutli-tool. I have come across many situations while out on the street where these tools would have been a valuable asset to me if I had had them ready on my belt during MVCs or many other situations where those tools would have been needed.
Once I get them from the friendly postman, I'll throw up my general impressions and then update how well they work out in the field over the next few months while I'm on the bus.

You'll like the Recon. It has a nylon locking bushing that let's you adjust the tension on the blade... mine opens with the flick of the wrist!

I've been drooling over the Recon 1 for a few months now. I'll own one eventually. Besides... How could I not like the name? ;)

The recon is an awesome knife. Mine isnt the tanto point but it is half serrated and is probably the best knife that I own. (the kershaw is a close 2nd)

Nice pic Ti. The handle on that Gerber looks kinda smallish from the picture. Any problems wrapping your paws around it?

The handle is a bit thin or narrow but not really a big deal. You can't see it in the pic but the blade has an index finger assist to open it and when locked in the open position it act's like a stop for your index finger to rest up against. Also with the blade assist I can open it as fast as a switch blade after breaking it in some.
It's not the best knife out there for sure but for $35 bucks it will get the job done and give me the chance to pick out a nice blade like a Recon 1 or something.
