The road goes nowhere for those who dare not dream.
Any preferred blade length or locking mechanism.
While not a spring assisted opener, I am a huge fan of the Spyderco Endura and Delica with the wave feature. With a little bit of practice it is lightning quick, and doesn't have any mechanical bits to fail.

- A price range and blade length would be very helpful.
- I agree with the Emerson Wave suggestion. I own a Spyderco Endura Wave, Emerson CQC-10 and Combat Karambit. It's hands down the fastest opening folder on the market. It's even faster than a switchblade (and legal) since the "Wave" catches your pocket and deploys the blade as the knife comes out of your pocket.

Some specs on what you are looking for would be nice and don't forget to check the laws in your state with what's legal.
I like these as they both have blade length less than 3" and legal in "most" states.

I've purchased three different Kershaw Assisted Openers...

I have the Kershaw Blur (1670blk) and like it a lot. Very smooth action and love the non-slip handle.
Happy with the CRKT Horus. Happy with the Gerber FAST in my range bag.

+1 on the Kershaw brand. I have two. A Leek in stainless, and a Scallion in blue.

I also have a Gerber and Kershaw knife, and I think they are very good knives and a very good value. I don't have any experience with Benchmade, but people own them are very happy with them. They are more expensive knives that Gerber and Kershaw though.
Many, many years ago I broke the top of my hand/thumb in a motorcycle accident and I cannot open a regular folder with the thumb studs, so I have tried alot of different assisted openers.
I carried a Kershaw for quite some time and was very happy with it, that is until I tried the new Barrage by Benchmade. WOW!!!! Super fast to the point it seems illegal and best of all it has their Axis lock!! I'll never go back to a liner locking blade.
Good luck!!

+1 on the Benchmade Barrage, one great knife. Just got the Benchmade Nitrous Stryker, another good one. Then you can't go wrong with Kershaw Leek, it just depends on which style blade and mechanism you like. Knifecenter.com is a good site to browse, I've gotten knives from them in the past and have gotten good service. Enjoy the search!

My buddy had a Barrage that went out on him, he even sent it back to be worked on by BM. Eventually the knife stopped working entirely and got stuck closed to where even prying on it wouldn't open the knife. They were really cool about it and swapped it for a Rift on a flat one-for-one trade.
Keep it in mind that if the assist fails somehow, you're likely going to be stuck with a non-functional knife.
