In contrast, any old piece of sharp metal will be equally effective for a few thrusts in a defensive situation; since it's not being used to cut things on an everyday basis, its not necessary to have a high quality blade steel.
That was very well put, never considered it that way

OK, my "karambit" "lock" failed. You get what you pay for. The lock strap isn't stiff enough to hold position. I repaired it, but I'll use it as a utility blade at work just because the blade's OK. If you're still thinking of buying, ABORT. I guess I'm sorry for my enthusiasm.

Don't be. In my experience, there are two ways a company comes into being. Cheap products, and expensive ones. Sometimes the quality vastly outstrips the price, and...well...sometimes they make cheap crap. Or vice versa.

Still and all, good learning experience that we got to share even if it was vicarious and ultimately something of a failure.

What would be interesting is if they had an actual website and you complained. A great company buils on the spine of good PR and Customer Service. I would have loved to see you complain to some probably Chinese company and have them send you a new knife in resonse!

That would have raised some eyebrows around here!

The Chinese have not exactly been all about CS or PR lately, so...

You got what you paid for.

    Better luck next time!

    P.S. To shockwave:

I fully realize that journalism is not just a Google search. That only happened to be what I could find on them. But it's okay. Most people don't have critical thinking anymore which is half the problem with journalism these days. They don't even realize that they're supposed to expect more from them. Lower standards, etc...
That which does not kill us leaves us broken and bleeding...

Donít mess with the guy who can barely stand up. His remaining options for self-defense don't include your survival.
