I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier but I've always had a Spyderco Civilian on my list, but have never bought one. They are wicked sharp and I call it the "Mean People Saw" check it out
This is a discussion on Whats your best folding fighter? within the Defensive Knives & Other Weapons forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier but I've always had a Spyderco Civilian on my list, but have never bought one. ...
I second the Spyderco Civilian. It CUTS! And it is one knife I would not want to face as a weapon (O.K. I don't want to face any knife, but the Civilian is a nasty piece of work). P.S. My wife bought it for me.
I second the CRKT M16, especially the models with the LAWKS blade lock, although the Kershaw Blur with the "plain" edge has got my interest lately.
I am also shopping for a karambit. Those KaBar knives look cool too, the small ones that draw like a gun. Looking for a backup to my main fighting knife.

Given the parameters, & for the $$, no question: the Spyderco Gen 4 Endura, /c wave. Faster than my Boa & Leek. http://thebrightedge.com/xcart/custo...cat=299&page=1 New Grahm Knives may have some in.....Originally Posted by fed_wif_a_sig
Benchmade Ascent. I've had it for 6-7 years.
Opens with the flick of a wrist. It's always clipped to my pocket when I'm not at work. It's a $50 knife (or was) so I'm not hurt if I lose it.
My only complaint - Hard to get sharp and doesn't hold an edge for very long.

I carried a Cold Steel Voyager for years. They keep a good edge and are extremley tough.

I like my Kershaw Blur for daily carry, but a smaller Kershaw might be more what you are looking for. Since I got my Blur, the Benchmade has sat in the drawer , or deligated to backup for the Blur.

i've got a couple of folders i rotate as my EDC. among them are: a waved endura, a cold steel voyager xl, a benchmade pika, and i recently got a soyderco karambit, since you brought up karambits. i got mine from botach tactical, it cost me only $59.99.
Built like a tank and a nasty cutter, too. Oh yeah, fastest opening out of the pocket.
Many great knives have been suggested. The emersons are all good knives. The spyderco civilian is a great SD knife, but it doesn't have much utility. I recently purchased a waved endura 4. I really like it. The lock is solid and the wave feature really works.
I prefer the Gerber "Rex Applegate" or the Bench Made 154CM. I have a spyderco Delica 4 SpyderEdge too, sharpest knife I've every held.

Would you consider one of the new Emerson's with the "wave feature" that opens the blade as the knife is withdrawn from the normal carry position?
