Need to get around a "no weapons" policy.

The company I drive for has a policy against weapons. I travel the Midwest region and frequently make pre-dawn deliveries in undesirable areas. I also have to spend a lot of nights in rough looking areas. 2 of my co-workers have been robbed over the past few months. One was hog tied in Indianapolis and the other was pistol whooped in Flint, MI.

Since pepper spray isn't permitted I keep a can of wasp spray within reach of my bunk along with a tire thumper. What I need is something I can have accessible while I'm outside unloading my trailer. I can't have a knife with more than a two inch blade. Do they make defensive knives that small and would it even be worth it? At home I carry my pistol and avoid areas that I don't feel comfortable in. Unfortunately I don't have either option at work. Any tips on innocent looking defense weapons would be greatly appreciated.

Get some open handed defense training.

Probably one of the most useful short bladed knives: Boker Subcom Black Serrated Folding Knife - Kennesaw Cutlery

Hand to hand training. Also, maybe start looking for a slightly more open minded employer...

A good, high lumens flashlight. Also, a two inch blade can still be very affective.

There are several small fixed blade knives around
I would use something that if you made a fist the blade would stick out.
There is also something called a " self defense keychain google that or search you tube, the one I'm thinking of is made by " fire arm pop" it's made out of paracord and looks like it works well.
Can you carry a stun gun?

A more open minded employer is on my wish list. I'm just trying to ride out the economy before I give up my seniority where I'm at.
A guy at my church is into martial arts. I may talk to him and see if he still teaches.

Talk to your employer about the possibility of a Civilian Taser. Explain that it's already a felony to use it offensively - it's classed as a Less Than Lethal - it needs to be registered to you before it can be activated and should you ever need to use it defensively and only to save your life to "buy you some time" to get away from a deadly threat - it blows little tiny identification "taggens" all over the place that will identify you as the registered user at the scene.

Either that or............ever do any recreational SPEAR FISHING on your off time? <~~~

Either that or isn't your bum knee acting up again to the degree that you now occasionally need that heavy hardwood cane especially after sitting for long periods of time driving?

A Ruger LCP in a pocket holster looks just like a wallet, if anyone would even notice it in the first place. Just sayin.

Check out the "Cold Steel" canes. And there "War Club" don't look to shabby either.

Try the kabar TDI defense knife. I carry one on my weak side. It's less than 2" and draws like a pistol. It also has a 15-degree edge so it's super sharp.
