I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy...
M&P 45c, S&W 642, Browning BPS
OK - I'll play.
For $50.00 and Shipping I really like this Schrade Extreme Survival Knife.
NEW Schrade Knives Extreme Survival Knife SCHF1SM | eBay
Now...before you laugh I'll tell you why I like it. Firstly it's China made. But, that is not why I like it.
At knifetests.com (no longer up on the Internet) it actually destructive tested better than the Reeve which is/was a +$300.00 knife.
It has a tool set inside the waterproof handle which is actually (believe it or not) high quality.
BUT, I popped that out anyway and put a ferro rod and some other small, necessary goodies in there.
The handle interior really is waterproof and the knife itself is one piece and surprisingly good steel of good hardness.
It WILL edge chip a bit depending on how you abuse it but, it takes and holds a good edge.
The EXTREME SURVIVAL printing on the blade is EXTREMELY DUMB and HOAKEY but, you can get rid of that.
The knife can actually take a fairly good beating. I beat one up pretty good and did some serious batoning through a pile of Oak hardwood with it.
The supplied sheath (of course) sucks big time as do most factory supplied sheaths these days.
The PLUS side of the sheath though is that it's giving some Chinese female a job at a sewing machine who would probably otherwise be very starved and malnourished.
That is the best thing that I can say about the sheath.
This is not a knife that I personally would carry or trust as a main survival knife. You folks know that I am a BUSSE Combat Knife Company individual.
But, this is a knife that you can stuff into the vehicle someplace/ somewhere and forget about until such time as you might need it.
I actually don't have any FAVORITE knives for under $100.00 - All of my FAVORITE knives are BUSSE and (sadly) there are no BUSSE knives for even close to $100.00 smacks...BUT, here is a knife that you can bet your life on for $79. Beaners.
The Ontario RAT 5 ~ RANDALL'S ADVENTURE TRAINING in D-2 Tool Steel. An incredibly good knife.
They are also available in 1095 but, the D-2 version is an amazing knife. I have a RAT 5 & a RAT 7 in D-2.
I have used a RAT 7 harder than most average folks will ever use a knife and these RATS can take it.
ONTARIO RAT 5 FIXED BLADE KNIFE CAMPING SURVIVAL D2 | eBay
Get one while you can for anywhere close to $79. because they are scarce in D-2 Tool Steel & it's not a knife that is being made anymore.
I have purchased from this seller before but, you should know that I am in no way related or affiliated with them.
They usually always get a bid for $79. but, you can try sniping it for a tiny bit more right before the auction closes and it's a decently safe bet that you'll win it.

Alright,i'm about to bring out the haters, but mine is the Glock 78,I know, but for 30.00,I don't have to worry if I loose, break or if it just goes missing, and it saves my other knives for the rough stuff,it worked great for cutting ammo bands on pallets in somewherastan, easy to sharpen and tough, however it does require a little oil or it will rust.
I'll also throw a cheapie out there; I've been abusing a Spyderco Tenacious G for a few years and it also has held up well. It's a working knife that keeps its edge, that I use for all sorts of things it was never intended for.
*Disclaimer - I'm not a knife fighter nor collector.

For under $100, probably any sub $100 Spyderco's will do. The Delica, Endura and Tenacious come to mind. The Benchmade Mini-Griptilians are a great choice too.
for aesthetics and just plain BEEF, CRKT's the Natural, The Natural 2 or M21
For utility and ease of carry I'd vote for Benchmade's Griptilian or Mini Grip.
Benchmade-MiniGrip or regular sized, also the mini-Barrage (but its assisted opening). Great knives!

I like the Mora Clipper. They cost about $15 and are wicked sharp right out of the box. I have one in every tackle box, glove box, and range bag. For about $8, I also like the Opinel #4. It's just a cheap, handy little folder that works well for me and I don't have to worry about losing it.
Whatever doesn't kill you postpones the inevitable.
SOG FlashII and Aegis for edc. Cold steel SRK and SOG Seal Pup for fixed blades.
I like the Mora blades a well you can beat the crap out of them and they sharpen back up real quick
