I like Merc-Worx also. I own only one, the Atropos.
I now have a Sebenza. If I had to pick just one folder, I would have a very difficult task.

You may want to give some consideration to the Emerson Combat Karambit. Almost a 'fixed' blade, its deployment is so fast. I features the Emerson wave doohicky (thats a technical term) that grabs the pocket rim and opens as the knife is drawn. I carry mine in my weak side pocket, ring foreward to be deployed blade down / forward for easy upward punch/slash.
Maybe Ms. Betty has one of her demo videos featuring this knife?

    Hope this helps,

    Dan

Emerson has their own demos here.

I have a LaGriffe on order - it's taking forever, but it'll come in some time. The Emerson kerambit is too big for my hands.

I prefer carrying folders for concealability, though the fixed blades definitely beat a folder of drawing speed. I will occasionally carry an MOD Razorback or TOPS UTE.

    Thank you, Ms. Betty,
my linking skills are just about as bad as my typing skills. Yeah, the ECK is kinda big. But I'm 6'and around two hundred, and "koff" "koff" pounds. With my one-size-too-large shirts it hides fairly well. The LaGriffe is an awsome hideaway 'somebody's gonna feel this shiv. Looking foreward to a thorough review from you on this blade.

Where did you order your Atropos from??? I just ordered one and got an e-mail saying they are on backorder, and how would I like to proceed.

I have always just carried a folder clipped to the inside of my right pocket while wearing jeans. Dressed up casually or for work, I normally don't carry a knife. I have never carried a belt knife for anything but hunting.

    APachon,
I got my Atropos from a local dealer.
It is a great knife, but very, very large.
    I sent you a PM.

I have a fixed as my main defensive weapon (cant have carry a gun--under 21) and a folder as backup on strong side, and weakside I have a waveaction folder. I wish I could find a left hand oriented fixed blade,I'd wear that weakside. Lately I've been thinking about gtting a neckpeice.

Does anybody wear a neckpeice out in the open? I can't conceal a knife in the state of Va.

I'm not sure why you'd wear a neck knife in the open. The point of neck carry is concealability. If you can't carry a fixed blade concealed, you're better off belt carrying because it's more stable to draw from.

I predominantly carry folders, because in Calif. you pretty much can't conceal a fixed blade, unless it's under 2", I believe (That's why I kept my HAK). I just don't like open carrying a weapon (Gun, knife, whatever).

Even though I am the first to assail the idea that deadly force with weapon A is acceptable and deadly force with weapon B is unacceptable -- because I feel that if it's justified, ALL weapons are acceptable -- I would hate to have to use a karambit like those in post #1 in a defensive situation and then justify why I had such a "menacing death-knife" on me. Even though it would be legal, and even though the use of deadly force was justified because I was under attack.

It still would make for an ugly, expensive situation. I see no reason to not k.i.s.s. as far as what knife I will carry as a backup. Lately it's been a Kershaw Vapor II, which is not un-nasty looking to begin with; or a Benchmade AFCK (whose name could give you problems: "Advanced Folding Combat Knife"). I'll probably rotate back to my waved Delica soon.

Even though we shouldn't have to, at this point, it's sometimes better to endeavor to have your carry weapons be a bit on the P.C. side. "Punisher" skull grips on a tricked-out 1911 will bring more scrutiny upon you than a stock GLOCK 27, don't you think?
