pretty spiffy knife raevan.....does it hold a good edge?
I just bought the Kabar TDI nonserated two hours ago at the Pittsburgh Gun show...$30...am very pleased! fits nicely on my belt and has a great edge
plan b....good knife. it does hold a good edge, feels good in the hand, is easily concealable. but the sheath really sucks.
Plan B keeps its edge, but I agree the sheath sucks. Mine came wit chain for neck carry but never comfortable. the belt clip really doesnt work good. I just carry it in my pocket. I have an Idea for covering sheath with an outer leather one that will be better.
I bought a Ka-Bar TDI at a gunshow ($28) during the summer. I have not worn it much because it's so obvious in public. I've just been pocket carrying a Buck Strider as a backup to my S&W 642. Maybe I'll start wearing the TDI when the weather turns colder and my jacket will cover it. I'll wait and see.
It IS sharp and it does fit the hand nicely. Drawing from the kydex sheath takes some practice.
I have the knife, carry it occasionally but I am thinking about buying a HAK (www.hideawayknife) to replace it. The reason being that it always seem to be in the way on my belt and I've tried all positions with it.
I've also ordered several items from lapolicegear.com and been very happy with their service.
I was lusting after a HAK until finding out the cost and the long delivery times. The TDI is a mean little tool, and for $26 it was hard to pass. The angle on the knife is a lot like a framing hammer. The angle adds leverage to a sweeping, hammering type motion. It can also be used in a punch. I don't think the sheath is all that bad, it's cheap but could be a lot worse.
Benchmade also makes a T-handle daggar for about $60 that could suit your needs. I chose the TDI for the price and "mean factor," but the Benchmade is a very nice little weapon as well.
I look at serations backwards to some of you. I don't usually like them but I think they would be more useful in a self defense knife than a utility knife. For self defense they would allow a knife to rip through a perp like a knife through butter. However, they would get in the way for utility use and they are hard to properly sharpen.
