i love my Benchmade Mini-Griptilian, model 557 (tanto point).

my other frequently carried knife is an Emerson CQC-14.

i prefer to keep blade length 3" or less.

Emerson Mini Commander is nice, too,if expensive like all Emersons and cloaser to your maximum blade length.

if you tend to lose things, stay with the Griptilian. Sog Twitch XL is very easy to open. its blade steel is not so good as the Benchmade Griptilian.

I also LOVE the Benchmade Griptilian, have both the mini and full size, have given as gifts and people love them. It's a great entrance into what I would call the "premium" knife category at a reasonable price (reasonable for me, I don't want to assume everyone thinks it's a reasonable price point). I now buy them mostly from Amazon, you should easily be able to find one in a configuration you like for under $100.

Another vote for the Mini-Grip! Great knife, good handling characteristics, reasonable price. I have several and have given them as gifts (to the good friends).

This was my pick. Benchmade 470 emissary. Sexy functional knife for EDC tasks.

Around 130 shipped if you look around.

    I like the Hissatsu 2:
(Although it is only suited for defensive, not utility)
