Pictures from our Defensife Knife/MBC Training Group today
After the success of the knife courses earlier this year, I started a training group to help maintain the skills. Six students met today and worked through the basic responses.

Warming up with the "25 drill" - a drill that combines all possible angles of attack into one exercise.

Taking out the weapon-hand....

....and following up with a mobility kill!

Fine-tuning the mobility kill

Working joint-locks if you can't evade to the outside

More joint locks...

A big thank you to my students who made this morning a great training session. As discussed just before we left for the day, I'll work out another training date and check with Mike Janich if he is available for a seminar here in CA in 2013.

This is great. As I continue with my self-defense training I need to see if I can find a group to practice with to keep my skills from perishing.

What is that stealthy yellow weapon on the left side of the third picture?
(Sorry, I needed a little levity since the election isn't looking too good.)

Bananas are no joke:

Seriously though, that looks like a good class that covers a lot of ground.

Good pics. Thanks for posting them. Absolutely a worthwhile skill set to have in your bag of tricks and one that many ignore.

Count me in for Michael Janich from LA County.
Americans understood the right of self-preservation as permitting a citizen to repel force by force
when the intervention of society... may be too late to prevent an injury.

What you are calling a mobility kill. Outside of the U.S. that was called a limp-maker.
It really needs a razor sharp virgin/pristine flesh cutting edge which is why folks should not use their defensive knife for daily mundane cutting chores unless you are going to really stay on top of constantly re-honing that edge.
You need to be really aggressive with good pressure to bite deep into the Rectus Femoris - lower Sartorius & Vastus Medialis <~~~ I just wanted to impress you. I had to memorize all of the muscles in the human body in my figure construction and anatomy classes.
