    Spyderco All the Way
The Spydey hole is awesome..And the Quality is just purely awesome from all aspects..
But Benchmade Kershaw Cold Steel CRKT SOG KABAR are all good to.In different ways,as a company and just all the different models..
So Just honestly look into them all,MAINLY best thing you can do is go somewhere like a local sporting goods store n try as many knives as you can,and most you dont like u can just automatically scratch that out of your choices..
Heres some thngs to find out what ur lookiing for though:
    Blade length/Width
    Handle thickness/length
    Handle material
    What Steel used
    locking mechanism

Just take ur time, and eventually you should get it down to like 2 solid choices

For an EDC though I got a Manix 2 Lightweight(Transluscent Blue)
an awesome knife check it out..Lots of reviews on it including nutnfancys 11 out of 11.Also mine is the new version with adjustable blade pins..
It really got down to this and the Endura. But I didnt like the skinny handle..So I saw the native and Manix 2 had a much wider handle that fits my hand better..
but the Manix 2 fit my needs perfectly
    Good Luck

The Hissatsu folder is an excellent defensive knife. It's not a utilitarian knife. It's designed for self defense and to be used as an offensive or defensive weapon.

You can find it at CRKT. It's designed by James Williams, who designs many tactical bladed weapons for special forces. I highly recommend it.

I use a gerber ar 3.0, which has worked flawlessly for the 3 years I have had it. costs typically no more than $35. Its what I use for my general purpose utility needs.

    Mini-Griptilians are sweet. I think around $80.

Kershaw leek in my sap pocket at work. Black blade with green handle so as not to reflect light at night.

Kershaw clash in my pocket now. Ive had good luck with kershaw, never broke one.

Lots of great knives mentioned here. My favorites are the Blackhawk Be-Wharned and the Spyderco Yojimbo II - both designed by Michael Janich. The Spyderco version costs double the Blackhawk, but the blade is a bit heavier. They are both really good defensive knives and are perfectly suited for Janich's Martial Blade Concepts.

Wow...knives are like guns...so many good ones to choose from and so many different preferences. Great post and thread of info. It's going to take me awhile to shop, compare, stop my head from spinning and then finally decide on a good EDC knife. Good times!

Thanks, BR...b/c of your review, I just upgraded my EDC knife from a cheap Gerber business promo knife to a Kershaw Cryo (one of your best buy knives of 2012, I think). It's not a big/expensive dog like lots of other folks have, but it's a next level knife for me. I'm working my way to a Griptilian. That's a good looking/well reviewed knife!
