    New Carry Knife

I just picked up new carry blade at a Gun Show in Berea, OH

I was looking at their Q.R.T.

But decided to go with this one.

3/16" 1095 steel w/ pinned cocobolo scales and textured black powder coat. This is a prototype blade and it just grabbed my eye.

It's from a knife maker in the Columbus area, Shadow Tech Knives. Decent prices and good looking products. I am as impressed with their sheaths as I am with their knives. Most of the decent to high quality knives that I have looked at recently either don't come with a sheath at all or they toss a cheap, generic junk scabbard in. These sheaths are simple yet versatile, the same basic design that I make for all of my fixed blades and every knife comes with the sheath.

Only time will tell for sure as to the durability but the "out of the box" feel is top notch.

That's a good looking carry knife!! I have several KABAR's that use the 1095 Crovan steel and I have always liked their edge and edge retaining qualities. I hope, and would think, that your blade stands the test of time. How sharp is the blade out-of-the-box? Can you shave with it, or do you plain on touching up the edge?

The scales are quite nice as well. I think cocobolo can really set off a good blade and yours surely does.

It's respectably sharp out of the box but not hair splitting. I'll touch it up a bit and it should be a razor.

I like the Micarta and G10 for my work knives. I use Micarta mostly on my project knives but the cocobolo on this one is just so warm and alive. The picture does not really do it justice. My wife says it vibrates in her hand.

I collect knives and have several of Ethan Becker's designs put out by KABAR. I have also started to become fond of Bear & Sons knives. The high carbon blades they use can be made to shave with little effort and they are pretty well made. I would like to have a sheath like yours as I think they are better for carry purposes, as I prefer fixed blades to folders. Currently I have about 4 or so that I use for carry purposes that are fixed blades, but probably about 150 or so I have collected in various styles and lengths.

    GhostMaker,
I'd be happy to make you a sheath if you'd like. I concentrate on Holsters but I have done a few sheathes for customers and, as I said I do make my most of my own.

That little bugger looks great! Kind of a Brous Silent Soldier / Perrin La Griffe thing going there mixed with an Alan Folts Baby Bear.

Would you need me to send the knife or the model, etc.? If you want send me a PM on the price and how you want to transact this.

My carry knife is a Microtech Ultratech. Pricey, but rapidly deployed, razor sharp and incredibly well made. You get what you pay for.
