Yes, the Benchmade "Axis" locking mechanism is super. To open, just barely get it started with your thumb and flick your wrist. The knife locks up like a vise. It is a super strong design. To close just slide the "Axis" lock to the rear a small bit and the knife is ready to close. It is very easy to open and close with one hand. You will not beat this knife for the money. I own the small and large version and carry the large version in my rear strong side pocket every day. It stays razor sharp with minimal touch ups with a sharpening steel and Benchmade offers lifetime free resharpening and from what I have read, Benchmade offers unmatched customer service. I do not carry the small version often. i take it with me when I travel on air planes in checked luggage. I sound like a commercial, but I really like this knife... simple, strong, dependable with a blade that really holds an edge.
