Cool indeed, especially the third one. I'd definitely have that one on display.

    They are beautifully flaked.
    Perfect parallel flaking.
Folks should know that early man was quite well armed with a knapped blade for self defense.
They are devastating flesh rippers. But, of course they can be easily damaged if abused.
The finest blades for micro eye surgery are tiny flakes of obsidian because the edge flakes down to one molecule in thickness.
That is incredibly SHARP but, it is a delicate edge.
Something that is impossible to accomplish even with the finest, sharpest steel scalpel blade.

In my collection of rare and odd stuff I have one of the longest ever knapped blades.
It is just a blade and not a finished knife and it is about 13" in length.
It was made for me by Lyal Moen The Desert Dog who is a master blade knapper.

Whoever knapped your blades is also amazingly skilled/accomplished.

The eagle head carving. Has that been done on a whale tooth? VERY NICE!

Here is a blade by Lyal Moen flaked from Art Glass.

This is a "must see" if you like knapped blades.

I bid on one just like it on Ebay some years ago but, didn't win it.

Those are really cool. The few I've played with were razor sharp. I'd love to dress a deer with one of those...in some soft grass.

My best undetectable blade is my CIA Letter Opener. It will not set off a metal detector or show up on X-Ray. It is ideal to carry overseas while on a Cruise Ship for protection while out and about!

Edged art and very beautiful. When I was stationed at Travis you could go north to Mt Lassen or Mt Shasta and find obsidian on the roadside, you had to be very careful picking it up as the edges could cause some deep nasty cuts.

Man those are nice. I've played around with knapping small points from glass and flint off and on for a while, but no where near good enough to get those nice long parallel flakes. That's just beautiful.

I have 2 tiny Obsidian knives that are each about 2 inches long. Got them many years ago when I was into Blackpowder.

I don't remember who made these for me. I have his name somewhere. I'll dig it out and post it. The eagle is carved antler. Wish it was ivory.
